Section 9 of the Bill of Right says the following:
9. Equality
- Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.
- Equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all rights and freedoms. To promote the achievement of equality, legislative and other measures designed to protect or advance persons, or categories of persons, disadvantaged by unfair discrimination may be taken.
- The state may not unfairly discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone on one or more grounds, including race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth.
- No person may unfairly discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone on one or more grounds in terms of subsection (3). National legislation must be enacted to prevent or prohibit unfair discrimination.
- Discrimination on one or more of the grounds listed in subsection (3) is unfair unless it is established that the discrimination is fair.
After reading that can someone explain to me how the governments affirmative action and BEE policies conform to that. South Africa is actively practicing racism, albeit “Reverse Racism”. These policies are going to be the downfall of our country, when unqualified individuals get a job ahead of a qualified person purely on the basis of the color of their skin. What do you think would happen if I formed an association called The National Association of White People or The National Association of White Lawyers.
This is all brought about by revenge, but revenge against who? The very “White” people that voted in a referendum to essentially abolish apartheid. The “white” governments of years past were very good at concealing what was going on behind the scenes, most white South Africans had no idea what was really going on and were not supportive of the Apartheid policies of the government of the day. And if you were a white citizen and spoke out about it, very strong action was taken against you. I am speaking here with first hand knowledge, and had to leave the country in 1986 because of this.
I am waiting for the day that a white person gets denied a job in favor of a lesser qualified black person, files a lawsuit and takes it all the way to the constitutional court. Now this may have already happened and if it has I would welcome someone enlightening me as to what the outcome was.
In most other places in the world it is frowned upon when the majority violate the rights and discriminate against the minority, but not here because we are white. Most white South Africans are not racist and do not hate the black South Africans (of course there are some) all they want is to be treated equally, after all they voted in that referendum for equality for all.
This country has so much opportunity and potential, but no one is going to want to stay here, of come here if there is no future for them and their children.
